'Interrupted Expanses' are studies in minimal abstraction completed during a Covid 19 lockdown. Made up of photographs of the immediate environment, digitally layered with washes of colour distilled from the pixels themselves to form a 'backlit' appearance, similar to that of a screen, but contrasted with rough wood and painted texture from the doors and walls of which they are made up.

"[These digital collages] blur the line between second and third dimensionality. Combining crisp, architectural lines with a balanced, earthy palette, Bird distorts notions of reality, physicality and the digital realm, whilst highlighting the tension between interior and exterior, the personal and the universal." -Curator's Eye, StART Art
